According to Allstate’s America’s Best Drivers Report, Boise, Idaho, was recently listed as the third safest city in the U.S. As the third safest city in the report, drivers in Boise were 23.5% less likely to experience a car accident than the rest of the nation, with the average length between car accidents being just a little over 13 years.
Being in a car accident is difficult enough, but for victims of hit and run accidents, the consequences and the risks are far greater. According to Idaho law, drivers involved in any accident involving damage to a vehicle or injury to another person must stop, render aid, and report the accident to authorities. Victims of hit and run accidents face unique challenges. For one, these victims may not receive the immediate medical attention that they require because there is no one present to render aid. If the other driver was negligent in the accident, drivers involved in hit and run accidents may not always receive the compensation they deserve from insurers or negligent parties.
When bikers take to the road, they are required to abide by all traffic laws. This creates safety for both bikers and drivers, as both bikers and drivers then have clear expectations about behavior.

There’s a stop sign on the street and a right-of-way for the road you were driving on. The car that hit you must have run the stop sign.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is currently in the process of researching new technology that could potentially prevent drunk drivers from driving in the first place. Currently, the only technology on the market that prevents drivers from driving after consuming excessive amounts of alcohol is an ignition interlock device. These devices are placed inside drivers’ cars when drivers have been found guilty of a DUI and prevent the car from starting if the driver is found to have a high BAC. Yet, in the future, similar technology may be placed in all vehicles. The technology would be able to detect when a driver has consumed an amount of alcohol that would put the person’s BAC above 0.08—the legal limit. The device would prevent the car from being driven if it detects excessive amounts of alcohol in a driver’s system. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hopes, pending favorable results in testing, that these devices will be voluntarily placed in cars—thus making roads safer for everyone.
Idaho’s electronic message boards will be offering new messages to drivers who take to the road. While the signs are often left blank, the Idaho Transportation Department has decided to place messages that encourage safer driving practices on the boards. According to Local 8 News, the boards have been used to alert drivers to changes in traffic conditions and potential road hazards as well as to post Amber Alerts. Now, when the signs are not in use, the Idaho Transportation Department will use them to promote safe driving practices.
